[SYNERG] SECRETARY OF STATE FOR NATURE CONSERVATION AND FORESTS VISITS SYNERG SITE

The Camarido National Forest was the scene of the visit.

On 28 October, João Paulo Catarino visited various forestry management projects, including this Synerg project, accompanied by ICNF president Nuno Banza and Sandra Sarmento, the Institute's regional director for the North.


This project covered 82,860 ha, with funding from the ICNF. In addition to controlling invasive species, 23,281 native trees were planted, among others:

  • 62 % maritime pine;
  • 14 % stone pine;
  • 12 % cork oak;
  •  3.32% oak;

The actions undertaken reveal a firm commitment to biodiversity and sustainability, and stand out as a significant step towards the recovery and preservation of the local ecosystem.
